The Japanese art that goes by the name Nikka Whiskey is the “child” of Masataka Taketsuru, the first man to create Japanese whiskey. With a long history of distilling Scottish malt, in 1933 he opened his own distillery in order to create his own premium Japanese whiskey. An aged whiskey with a full creamy taste that leaves notes of plum and praline in the mouth, with a long licorice aftertaste. Nikka Coffey Malt premium whiskey is the result of a unique distillation process in a 100% malt bottling. At the Miyagikyo distillery of Japanese Nikka whiskey, there are two Coffey stills (distillers) for making grain whiskey. However, the distillation of malt in a continuous distiller (coffey) is quite special and unique.
